I don't think there is anything necessarily wrong in this article, but I also think that it's mostly missing the point. There are worse things that also need to be considered.

Incidentally, the added friction of their note-taking methods means they filter out a lot of stuff they find unworthy. They use index cards for notes and need to transcribe them into digital notes, so if they don't feel like doing that the note must not be worth it. In contrast they can highlight all they want in their Kindle and they always end up overdoing it.
